I first became interested in face painting when my youngest daughter had her face painted for a charity event in Croydon. I had paid for the privilege, I and my daughter was quite upset when her face was unrecognisable! This started off a determination in me to prove that I could do better. I started to practice at school fete’s and friends parties where I gained a lot of valuable experience. This experience taught me how to respond to children of all sorts of ages and personalities; also learning how parents respond to different situations e.g. long queues, irritated children, fidgety children, children with dirty faces etc. oh yes and the ones with head lice! I have good background learning with children as I have 5 of my own and 7 grandchildren!
At the time I was working part time and decided that I would attend some classes to improve my skills. I then discovered more about face painting and was helped along the way by some very generous face painters who shared their knowledge with me. After a while of working for other people and agents I decided to start my own business of which I have watched grow since 2002.. I became a member of the Face Painting Association in 2003 (Member No. 201) and have continued membership. I am CRB checked and have Full Public Liability Insurance to the tune of £5,000,000. I became so busy that I had to give up my part time work and concentrate on the business.
I have to thank my family for the continued support and help in building my business up and my daughter who has allowed me to practice on her many times. Also a very big thankyou to all of my customers for inviting me to take part in their events.
